The Blog

So my children have this nimbus idea about the fact that I blog. They hear Husband say to me “You should blog about that.” and the idea has kind of grown from there. Every once in a while one of them will do something that they think is REALLY funny or REALLY cleaver and they will tell me I should put it on my blog.

The realization that my children had not idea what that meant came when I saw this.

I know it’s really blurry but it says “Cake’s Blog.”

So I’m guessing she thought that when I put stuff on my blog I would tape it on the roll?  I’m not sure.  But SUPER Cute.

Cake just walked in and saw me writing this, she is now SUPER EMBARRASSED and doesn’t want anyone to read it.  So, if you read this, don’t tell her. Heheheheheheheeheh.

Mom should Blog

My mother is a great writer.  She’s even had a book published. She’s a very busy woman and hasn’t had much time to write in the last few years, which is a real shame.  I’ve always loved reading what she writes, even just little emails and such that she sends.  She just has a way with words.

When I was visiting after my grandmothers funeral, we were talking and I asked about several family history type stories.  From this my mother decided to send an email once a week to one of my brothers and me, recounting those types of things.  My suggestions is that she blog these stories.  That way, they are in an easily searchable format, that lends it self nicely to what she is trying to do.

I’ve already told her this, but I figured if I blogged my suggestion to blog, maybe that would stand a greater chance of convincing her.

And maybe if everyone tries to convnice her, she will one day post “Cara Crane and the Loom of Doom!” which is my very favorite of her stories…well, maybe “Cara Crane and the Burning Box” is my favorite…

What did I mean by that?

A while ago I talked about how I kept coming up with these good ideas for posts and then forgetting them before I had time to post them.  I came up with a solution for that problem.  I’ve taped a piece of paper by my computer where I jot down titles for the idea that I had.  Then when I sit down to blog I look at my list and decide if I want to blog about one of those or something else that comes to mind as I sit there.  Some times I go a week off the list of ideas and some days I add a bunch every day with out using any on the list.  This method has been working really well for me, and with the exception of times I’ve been away from my computer, I’ve been able to post almost every week day.

I ran into one problem with my method when I came back though.   Because I was gone for six weeks, I didn’t look at my list every day like I normally do, and I’ve forgotten what some of my titles are referring to.  They sound pretty interesting too!

So, if I have told you a story that could be entitled “I didn’t account for the hair” or “The roller-skate effect” please let me know what it was I was going to blog about.

I’ve been having a hard time coming up with anything to post.  All my thoughts are centered on taking care of The Boy and that kind of thing.  His eating, sleeping and pooping patterns aren’t really very good post material.  I can’t even think of a title for this post!

I had a bunch of ideas of cool stuff the girls did and said in regards to The Boy when I first got home but I didn’t take the time to write them down so I only remembered a few…maybe they will come back to me.

Well, I’ll be back tomorrow, hopefully with something more interesting to say.

Here’s an idea, you guys tell me what you want to know and then I can answer your questions.  Takes the burden of coming up with subject off me! HA!

Splish Splash

A friend of mine mentioned in her blog a splash pad that we tried out today. Peanut took a few minutes to warm up but then she spent the whole time running in circles around and around. Cake on the other hand, never really warmed up. As long as I was holding her she was okay, but if I tried to put her on the ground in front of a jet she started crying. If I held her she was happy to stick her hands in the water. That was our first water activity this summer and we all had a good time. Next I think, we will have to try a pool!

A Blog about Blogging

I’ve had several thought about blogging lately that I thought I would share with all ya’all.

Firstly, I wish that more of my friends had blogs. I really enjoy reading what’s going on with the people that matter to me and I know I can’t really expect them to write a ton of personal email. Frankly, I have a hard time keeping up with mine some days!

I guess I’m saying, START A BLOG.

Secondly, I wish the blogs that I read updated more frequently. I know I just said that I understand that people are busy and stuff, and I do. I just wish that their lives were such that they could write a little more often. I don’t have much time for socializing and many of my friends live far away so it’s a fast way for me to feel up to date and involved in their lives. And, as we know, everything is all about me and my needs -smerk-

I guess I’m saying, UPDATE YOUR BLOG.

Thirdly, I’m debating on if I should allow searches to find my blog. I currently have it set so wordpress doesn’t show my blog on any of their listings and it’s not listed with the search engines. I’m just curious in if ANYONE besides those who already know me would be interested in what I have to say. The only reason I think that has any possibility is the amazing popularity of some websites that I think are lame. So if THOSE web sites have a following, what would happen to mine? Again, everything is about me.

I guess I’m saying, READ MY BLOG.

Fourthly, I really enjoy the comments people make on my blog. You may have noticed that I end most of my posts with a question, I do that because I really want to know your thoughts. I’ve learned a few things, had some laughs and just loved hearing from you. Thank you to everyone who has commented on my blog.

I guess I’s saying, COMMENT ON MY BLOG.

Fifthly, I wish their was a Femininity blog with the same goals as this one for men. Have you run into any? I think Femininity took as much as a hit, if not more, from the feminist movement as chivalry and manliness did. I would like to start one. Femininity is something about culture and womanhood that I would love to help preserve. I don’t think I could do it on my own. If anyone is interested in doing a blog on The Art of Femininity with me please send me a line.

Well, those are my thoughts on blogs for today. Discuss…

The secret to a clean house and happy kids

A friend of mine wrote in her blog about how she felt like life got in the way of doing and being with her kids in the way she wanted to. She had a day where shes said “for 20 minutes I was the mom I hope to be everyday”

I was having one of those mornings, Cake was crying all morning, off and on, for no reason I could discern, other then to try and get me to hold her. Peanut was running around after me pulling things out just as I cleaned them up. Then I thought about my friends post. I said to myself, “Self, forget the cleaning, it’s obvious your kids need your attention more then your house does.” So I did. And we’ve had a fun morning. Cake stopped crying (until just now as I’m trying to type this) and Peanut stopped making messes.

Hum, maybe the secret to a clean house and happy kids is to never clean. Just keep your kids busy all day so they can’t make any messes.
